Deep water lakefront lot, European accents and contemporary features blend seamlessly with this 5,000-square-foot house to combine the warmth of home with the need for functional simplicity. The ‘green’ wood-burning, see-through fireplace anchors the main living area with an open floor plan that allows the family to gather together. The homeowners were enticed to the site by the deep water that would accommodate their love of sailing and provide access to the lake from their back door. The steep, double lot overlooks Watts Bar Lake, and the open floor plan provides a stunning view of the overall beauty of East Tennessee. The house features four bedrooms, 5.5 baths, custom-built kitchen with high-end appliances, library and wine cellar. The low-maintenance home meets green building codes. The exterior is made of metal, hardcoat stucco and Black Locust siding. Black Locust is a sustainable, ecofriendly tree native to the Southeast that yields durable grained-wood, provides dimensional stability and is very resistant to rot. The large, functional garage has a flat “living roof” that will allow for the growth of plants. The contemporary European tone of the home strikes the right tenor with the surrounding lake and green space, creating the perfect custom-made house for the dwellers..
