Being a part of the Knoxville build of the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was humbling, heartwarming and fulfilling as we watched an entire area come together to benefit a tremendously worthy couple, Daniel and Mandy Watson, and their children.

The Watsons run the Restoration House of East Tennessee, a nonprofit organization that provides single mothers with housing, mentoring and advocacy. Our job was to replace their crumbling old farmhouse, while also providing an onsite duplex to help other families.

Grace Construction coordinated more than 4,000 skilled and non-skilled workers and subcontractors who logged hours around the clock to build a 4,000-square-foot home with only 106 hours from groundbreaking to unveiling. We also constructed the duplex to help the Watsons further their mission of helping others.

The results of the project are in the photo portfolio, which features: floor-to-ceiling stacked stone on the fireplace; a solar power grid; hardwood flooring that complements the elaborate artistry affixed and painted onto the walls; bedroom themes for the children from water to safari exploration, including a life-sized Styrofoam elephant and giraffe, to a mini-schoolhouse, completes with desks; expansive kitchen with stone surrounding the cooking area; elegant master bedroom with rich, dark flooring and covered outdoor seating area for relaxation; deep bathtub and glassed-in, walk-in shower; formal and casual eating areas for gatherings; and a recognition of the importance of the family’s faith. The duplex offers a beautiful and inviting stone courtyard with water feature and patio seating; modern kitchens; and spacious living and sleeping areas.

Grace Construction was honored to be a part of this team project..
